Columbia, MO – Heart of Missouri United Way, an organization fighting for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community, has hired Alaina Leverenz as the new Director of Marketing and Communications.

Alaina will provide strategic direction on marketing initiatives through an equitable lens. Responsibilities include implementing digital and email marketing campaigns, managing social media marketing platforms, and increasing brand awareness.

“I am so excited to apply my nonprofit marketing skills for an organization that makes a meaningful and measurable impact in my community,” said Alaina.

Alaina joins United Way from the University of Missouri. For two years, Alaina served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the communication department where she taught business and professional communication. Prior to working in higher education, she worked as the Marketing and Communications Manager for the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners where she directed all external member and non-member communications and developed and executed national marketing strategies. She also worked as a Communications Consultant with nonprofits such as Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault and PHACE Syndrome Community.

Alaina is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Communication at the University of Missouri. She holds a Master of Arts in Applied Communication from Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis.
