Heart of Missouri United Way ASPIRES Project – Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT)
Heart of Missouri United Way is excited to continue bringing The ASPIRES Project to the nonprofit community through our partnership with the City of Columbia. This Heart of Missouri United Way capacity-building project for local nonprofit organizations is designed to help them build their capacity to achieve their short-term goals and long-term mission. The project further extends a meaningful partnership between United Way and the City, allowing us to significantly expand the capacity of our community’s nonprofit organizations. Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT) Cohorts
TCC Group’s CCAT measures nonprofit organizational effectiveness. Each assessment includes a custom results report and interpretation by a TCC-certified expert. The CCAT Report is designed to help an organization identify its strengths and target its areas of improvement, the interpretation is designed to help nonprofits understand and contextualize the data, identify priorities, and turn assessment results into an action plan.
Cohorts will be opened a couple times annually. Make sure to check back for upcoming Cohort open Interest Applications and timelines for Cohorts.
Commitment:
Participation in the CCAT Cohort(s) requires that an organization participates in at least two (2) assessments and two (2) interpretations.
Participating Organizations are required to report to United Way 2 times annually.
Benefits of Participation:
- Access to request one-time capacity building funding based on the organization’s most critical capacity need(s) as identified through the individualized CCAT results report.
- Class focusing on the area of capacity most needed by the cohort identified through the aggregate data. (Adaptive, Leadership, Management, Technical)
- Workshop focusing on the specific activities of the area of capacity most needed by the cohort identified through the aggregate data.
- CCAT Helps Strengthen Your Nonprofit!
(Organizations awarded capacity building funding will be required to report outcomes to Heart of Missouri United Way.)

The ASPIRES Project allows CCAT Cohort participants to easily, quickly, and confidently identify critical focus areas to increase your organization’s effectiveness at NO COST to your organization. This is made FREE to ASPIRES Project Cohort participants through a partnership with the City of Columbia.

The CCAT is a comprehensive assessment of your organization. Our survey collects real, unbiased input from staff and board leaders to assess your organization across 36 key measures. These statistically-validated measures are drawn from an evidence-based understanding of how nonprofits most effectively deliver on their missions. It gives staff and Board members a common language to discuss organizational challenges and assets. The outcome is a clear plan of where to spend your time and money strengthening the capacities needed for your nonprofit to make the most impact.
High Touch
Your CCAT Interpretation Session provides expert guidance to contextualize your results and facilitate a robust conversation with your staff and Board leaders. After completing the CCAT, you will have access to curated resources to help guide you in implementing your capacity building plan.
